Question:
Just know that by supporting it, you would also be supporting organized crime since drug dealers wouldn’t exist if it were legal. And, the prohibition ruins many more lives than the drug itself, through putting non-violent marijuana users in jail, usually young people with their whole lives ahead of them. Is this a little overkill for a drug that you physically can not overdose on, causes 0 accidental deaths when used responsibly, and it has been scientifically proven that THC can decrease tumor size and kill cancerous cells, and the lesser known CBD can be a good source of pain relief? Also, with the use of a vaporizer, the herb can be reduced to a 100% non-carcinogenic vapor that has literally no negative health effects except temporary perception changes.
With use over the past century steadily increasing regardless of legal status, does this need to be kept illegal, or just more educated about when and how to use properly to insure safety?
I don’t mean to sound preachy, just want people to be informed enough to have solid opinions, if you still disagree with everything I’ve said, by all means still answer and support your opposing argument..
chebrew – If you wanna say thing like marijuana makes you stupid, I’m gonna lose all respect for your answer, especially when you have email blocked so you can get your last word in. Weed doesn’t make you stupid, it can cause less concentration in people who are affected by it like that. And OBVIOUSLY, it is the conductors fault for smoking before operating a train, not marijuana’s. To blame the accident on the inanimate object he burned and inhaled would be incredibly egotistical. When people abuse any drug, bad things can happen, but this is because they misused it, and they are at fault. You ignored my statement about how it causes zero deaths when used responsibly, didn’t you? This is a fact, not opinion.

I support LEGALIZATION. There is absolutely no reason why alcohol is still legal, but marijuana is not.
ETA: Isn’t it interesting how chebrew makes the ridiculous claim that a marijuana-smoking conductor caused a train wreck (FYI, chebrew, the conductor doesn’t operate the train–the ENGINEER does!), but ignores the fact that thousands of lives are lost every year to drunk drivers? Just something for her and everybody else to chew on. And no one ever “toked” themselves to death!
I think there should be an age limit. When you are young, you don’t need to be smoking a substance which reduces motivation and ambition, You need all your brain cells to make good choices in life when you have your whole life in front of you.
I think if we could legally get it at , say 50 years old or so. that would be a reasonable age limit
Your argument only cites marijuana’s positives in extreme cases like terminal illness. Personally I would love it if they could put it in an eyedrop form without the THC side effect to help my aging eye muscles relax and focus. But the down side is that law enforcement is worried about the precedent it sets and the enforcement of it. Once it’s legalized for teminal illness, everybody’s going to start growing it. And don’t say they won’t. Also on the down side, is that marijuana makes you stupid, and lose concentration. Two serious train wrecks that killed people over the past decade were attributed to the conductors high on marijuana. I don’t want my pilot smoking it, I don’t want my doctor or surgeon smoking it, and I don’t want my pharmacist smoking it.
legal only for medical purposes and prescribed by your doctor in VERY low doses and no abusing it.
