question Marijuana versus Aspirin. If both were legal which would you choose?Question:
(All of this from an article written almost 2 years ago)

When Bayer introduced aspirin in 1899, cannabis was America’s number one painkiller. Until marijuana prohibition began in 1937, the US Pharmacopoeia listed cannabis as the primary medicine for over 100 diseases. Cannabis was such an effective analgesic that the American Medical Association (AMA) argued against prohibition on behalf of medical progress. Since the herb is extremely potent and essentially non-toxic, the AMA considered it a potential wonder drug.

Instead, the invention of aspirin gave birth to the modern pharmaceutical industry and Americans switched away from cannabis in the name of “progress.” But was it really progress? There can be no doubt that aspirin has a long history as the drug of choice for the self-treatment of migraines, arthritis, and other chronic pain. It is cheap and effective. But is it as safe as cannabis?

History:

-Marijuana has been used for over 5,000 years.
-No one has ever overdosed on marijuana.
-Aspirin has been used for 108 years.
-Approximately 500 people die every year by taking aspirin

The Law:

-Marijuana is a Schedule 1 drug, meaning the US government believes it is extremely dangerous, highly addictive, and of no medical value.
-Aspirin is available for pennies and can be purchased by children at any drug, grocery, or convenience store. Often they are just handed out free by people with no medical education.

Marijuana side effects and dangers:

-The dangers of marijuana include possible respiratory problems caused by the deposition of burnt plant material on the lungs. This danger can be eliminated with alternate forms of consumption such as eating or vaporizing the medicine.
-For two to four hours, marijuana causes short-term memory loss, a slight reduction in reaction time, and a reduction in cognitive ability. These conditions DO NOT persist after the herb wears off.
-Hunger
-Paranoia
-Laughter
-Introspection
-Creative Impulse
-Euphoria
-Tiredness
-Forgetfulness
-0 Mortality Rate

Aspirin side effects and dangers:

-When taken with alcohol, aspirin can cause stomach bleeding.
-Reye Syndrome in children: fat begins to develop around the liver and other organs of the child, eventually putting severe pressure on the brain. Death is common within a few days.
-People with hemophilia can die.
-People with hyperthyroidism suffer elevated T4 levels.
-Stomach problems include dyspepsia, heartburn, upset stomach, stomach ulcers with gross bleeding, and internal bleeding leading to anemia.
-Dizziness, ringing in the ears, hearing loss, vertigo, vision disturbances, and headaches.
-Heavy sweating
-Irreversible liver damage
-Inflamation and gradual destruction of the kidneys
-Nausea and vomiting
-Abdominal pain
-Lethargy
-Hyperthermia
-Dyspepsia: a gnawing or burning stomach pain accompanied by bloating, heartburn, nausea, vomiting and burping.
-Tachypnea: Abnormally fast breathing
-Respiratory Alkalosis: a condition where the amount of carbon dioxide found in the blood drops to a level below normal range brought on by abnormally fast breathing.
-Cerebral Edema: Water accumulates on the brain. Symptoms include headaches, decreased level of consciousness, loss of eyesight, hallucinations, psychotic behavior, memory loss and coma. If left untreated, it can lead to death.
-Hallucinations, confusion, and seizure.
-Prolonged bleeding after operations or post-trauma for up to 10 days after last aspirin.
-Aspirin can interact with some other drugs, such as diabetes medication. Aspirin changes the way the body handles these drugs and can lead to a drug overdose and death.
-It is used as an analgesic to relieve minor aches and pains.
-Used as an antipyretic to reduce fever.
-Used as an anti-inflammatory medication.
-Aspirin is used in long-term, low doses to prevent heart attacks, strokes, and blood clot formation in people at high risk for developing blood clots.
-It has also been established that low doses of aspirin may be given immediately after a heart attack to reduce the risk of another heart attack or of the death of cardiac tissue.
-For 50-year-old men, taking an aspirin every day to prevent heart disease and stroke carries a risk of 10.4 deaths per 100,000 men per year over and above their overall death risk.
If you think that cannabis is actually safer than aspirin, you are not alone. In October 2000, Dr. Leslie Iversen of the Oxford University Department of Pharmacology said the same thing.
In her book, ‘The Science of Marijuana,’ Dr. Iversen presents the scientific evidence that cannabis is, by-and-large, a safe drug. Dr. Iversen found cannabis had “an impressive record” when compared to tobacco, alcohol, or even aspirin.
“Tetrahydrocannabinol is a very safe drug,” she said. “Even such apparently innocuous medicines as aspirin and related steroidal anti-inflammatory compunds are not safe.”

So if safety is your concern, cannabis is clearly a much better choice than aspirin. If you eat it or vaporize it, it just might be the safest painkiller the world has ever known.
A lie? No I don’t want to get high. I want Medical Marijuana. (No not Marijuana, MEDICAL MARIJAUANA) to be legal under Federal Law. Please prove to me how any of this is a lie and I will listen.

question Why are you against the decriminalization of Marijuana?Question:
Just to rebut these most common answers right away…

#1
There are many ways to consume marijuana that do not cause cancer…
I.e. Vaporizing(which is doctor recommended for medical patients)
and lets not forget that there are many ways to extract the content of marijuana so as to make it edible, and topical amongst other things.

#2
It’s not illegal in all states, only in the 41 states that haven’t had legislation passed yet to make it acceptable for medical use… That means that 11 states have already decriminalized it. (medically)

#3
Many people do not believe it has medicinal properties… I know this to be incorrect based on my personal experiences.
I was prescribed Xanax for Anxiety, and choose to use marijuana instead of that potentially deadly drug! Marijuana works the same, if not better..
It’s effects are instant in an anxiety attack, as opposed to taking 20 minutes like Xanax does. I’m not saying everyone should smoke pot, but shouldnt the people who make that choice have a right to… ?

The us constitution is founded on the values of the American people being able to pursue the American dream of life, liberty and happiness… Pot sure does make me happy!!

#4
For all of you that believe it’s an act against God!

Gen 1:29 “And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed.

This is an issue i hold close to heart, i’ve worked at and managed a California cannabis dispensary, and i’ve seen the pain and torment that cancer victims, Crones survivors, anorexia sufferers, and many more plagued with horrible illnesses have benefited from the use of the HOLY Plant!

Decriminalizing it would not make it so that you personally Have to use it, it would simply make it possible for those suffering from serious illnesses to make the decision for themselves, in their quest for quality of life for the remainder of their time on this planet… How can we “Non-Sufferers” make this option UN-available to them?

#5
The government cant tax it properly…

According to recent estimations by multiple advocacy groups, California’s hundreds of medical marijuana dispensaries contribute to the state budget at least $100 million annually in sales tax revenue. The State of California began collecting sales tax revenue from medical marijuana dispensaries in October 2005, after a policy decision that year by the BOE. However, the same facilities that are expected to comply with this policy are currently under attack by the federal government.

The Drug has mind altering effects…
I dont know about anyone else, but when the emergency room shoots me up with morphine for Pain relief(which i experienced several times during a period when i had gallstones, and pancreatitus), it sure does have mind altering effects for me. so does Vicodin, oxycotton, percoset, demoral, and the many other drugs they would prescribe to patients……. the difference is that with continued use of Cannabis, this effect goes away… I no longe have any euphoric feeling from smoking pot, and did not have any after a period of about 2 weeks of using it!
there are no adverse effects of quiting suddenly like there are with many pharmasudical drugs, and it’s non addictive.
Also, you would have to Smoke 1,500 pounds of weed in a period of 15 minutes in order to achieve an overdose with Marijuana….

question Opinion on a Marijuana Vaporizer, Lab Grade for cheap?Question:
I am what you could loosely call a chemist, homemade stuff, lab equipment but no lab (hint hint).
I made a vaporizer for vaporizing and cooling marijuana to make a 100% all time best high. Its made out of Pyrex lab equipment and is the exact same setup used in the FDA labs to test marijuana.

I just got finished pricing up the whole set, seeing how much it would cost, oput of curiosity…..I could make and package it for $48.65!

My question is would you buy a lab-grade vaporizer set, everything included except the obvious herb, for about $60-$75?

Do you support the marijuana prohibition? read details or don’t answer please?

question Do you support the marijuana prohibition? read details or dont answer please?Question:
Just know that by supporting it, you would also be supporting organized crime since drug dealers wouldn’t exist if it were legal. And, the prohibition ruins many more lives than the drug itself, through putting non-violent marijuana users in jail, usually young people with their whole lives ahead of them. Is this a little overkill for a drug that you physically can not overdose on, causes 0 accidental deaths when used responsibly, and it has been scientifically proven that THC can decrease tumor size and kill cancerous cells, and the lesser known CBD can be a good source of pain relief? Also, with the use of a vaporizer, the herb can be reduced to a 100% non-carcinogenic vapor that has literally no negative health effects except temporary perception changes.

With use over the past century steadily increasing regardless of legal status, does this need to be kept illegal, or just more educated about when and how to use properly to insure safety?

I don’t mean to sound preachy, just want people to be informed enough to have solid opinions, if you still disagree with everything I’ve said, by all means still answer and support your opposing argument..
chebrew – If you wanna say thing like marijuana makes you stupid, I’m gonna lose all respect for your answer, especially when you have email blocked so you can get your last word in. Weed doesn’t make you stupid, it can cause less concentration in people who are affected by it like that. And OBVIOUSLY, it is the conductors fault for smoking before operating a train, not marijuana’s. To blame the accident on the inanimate object he burned and inhaled would be incredibly egotistical. When people abuse any drug, bad things can happen, but this is because they misused it, and they are at fault. You ignored my statement about how it causes zero deaths when used responsibly, didn’t you? This is a fact, not opinion.

question Christians: What are your views on Marijuana?Question:
Seems like it’s becoming more accepted which is good. People are realizing that this plant is not a bad thing. It isn’t addictive(only psychologically but not physically like prescription pills, cocaine, meth, cigarettes, etc. ), doesn’t kill brain cells actually(monkeys were forced to inhale continuous Marijuana smoke for more than 5 minutes and the lack of oxygen kills brain cells, not marijuana), doesn’t make you lazy(Marijuana is classified into 2 groups “Indica” and “Sativa”. Sativa makes you creative, hyper, giddy, etc. Indica makes you sleepy and want to relax), makes you non-violent, and a better source of medication(You can physically be addicted to pain killers, xanax, depressants, etc. When you could vaporize, smoke, and eat the Marijuana have the same effect but with no addiction).

I understand it’s illegal but because of racism since Mexicans, African Americans, Asians, etc. were using the herb more than Caucasians and that Marijuana would put the timber business out of business with the use of it’s hemp.

It’s a shame I had to research all this information while I was forced to gobble down the information D.A.R.E. gave me about how bad it is and that it will “kill me” when no one has died from it. I understand telling children that they should say no to drugs but to tell them lies and making them believe all that mumbo jumbo is nonsense.

I told a man that was teaching about drugs in my military class about this and he was speechless and ended his speech about Marijuana as soon as I was done and moved on to cocaine and crack.
@Filida: Sure, inhaling any type of smoke is bad. The only thing that you would most likely get is a shortened of breath. There has not been one case of lung cancer from Marijuana. Not one. Now if you vaporize it or cook it in cookies, butter, brownies, etc. Then this eliminates your worries as far as lungs go.
@Camille: The Mexican cartel are the people who are killing and all that to make a profit which I do not support at all. First, their quality of Marijuana is just bad and compacted, second, it gives the idea that Marijuana is dangerous because of the process they do to bring it in America and the crime that follows it. Honestly, I have never seen any one kill to get Marijuana. If a Medical Marijuana patient was to get off Marijuana for a long period of time or forever, will you see them going around dying for this herb?
@someonewhoneedshelp: So I guess you are against prescription pills also. The way they make you feel and their effects. Prescription pills can make you loopy and high also but it’s okay because the government said it’s okay. Smoking it isn’t the only way to use it. You can vaporize it and eat it. There are even THC pills.

question Health risks with Marijuana Vaporization?Question:
I bought a small vaporizer pipe for my herb and am concerned as to how pure the vapor is. The issue is that i cannot control the temperature as precisely with my pipe as i would be able to if i had a volcano or vaporbrothers etc. all i can do is put the pipe closer or further away from the flame. How do i know if i’m not getting a little smoke in the vapor? does combustion only occur when you hit that exact temperature (230 F i believe) or is it a gradual thing. if so i’m worried as to what percentage of smoke is in the vapor. what are the complete health facts with vaporization? i thought that there was no respiratory-related health problems what-so-ever, are there? thanks, any information will be helpful. – Adam.
